Accessibility
Accessible in practice, not just on paper
Most of our passengers live with a disability. A service that is hard to use would not be a service at all, so accessibility is the design brief rather than a compliance exercise.
In our service
- Vehicles with hydraulic lifts or low-angle ramps, and four-point wheelchair securement.
- Attendants trained in safe transfer technique, accessible customer service and dementia-aware communication.
- Service animals are always welcome, and travel with the passenger at no charge.
- One companion or support person rides free on every trip.
- Assistive devices — chairs, walkers, canes, oxygen, communication aids — travel with the passenger.
- Service in English and French, and we will work with an interpreter or a family member if that is easier.
On this website
We aim to meet WCAG 2.2 level AA. That standard is a floor, not a finish line, so we test with a keyboard and a screen reader as part of every change.
- Text meets or exceeds WCAG 2.2 AA contrast on every surface, and nothing relies on colour alone.
- Every interactive control is reachable by keyboard and shows a clear, high-contrast focus ring.
- Headings follow a logical order, landmarks are labelled, and a skip link comes first in the tab order.
- Form fields have real labels, helpful hints, and error messages that say what to do next.
- The booking form works without JavaScript, and every field is validated again on the server.
- Photographs carry descriptive alternative text; decorative graphics are hidden from screen readers.
- Animation is subtle and switches off entirely when your device asks for reduced motion.
- Touch targets are at least 44 by 44 pixels, and body text starts at 17 pixels.
Accessible formats and communication support
Under Ontario’s accessibility legislation, you can ask us for our information in an accessible format or with communication support, at no extra cost. Large print, plain-text email and a read-aloud phone call are all things we do routinely. Tell us what works and we will arrange it.
Tell us where we fall short
If any part of this website or our service was difficult to use, we want to hear about it specifically — the page, the control, the moment it went wrong. We reply to accessibility feedback within two business days and we will tell you what we are doing about it.
Or write to dispatch@curaride.gurleenkaur.in.
Before launch, add the date of your last accessibility review, your multi-year accessibility plan, and the name of the person responsible for accessibility feedback.
